Bite of Bellingham
Bellingham, WA, USA created by Hanna Moran
On August 20th, Bellingham area restaurants will partake in the 6th Annual Bite of Bellingham. Vendors compete in three categories; “Best Bite,” “Sweetest Sweet” and “Dreamiest Drink.” To experience what culinary treasures Bellingham has to offer, I suggest starting with last year’s winners.
Best Bite- Bayou on Bay’s Smoked Tasso Po’Boy
Sweetest Sweet- Mt. Bakery’s Vanilla Bean Crème Brulee
Dreamiest Drink- Tie between Poppe’s and Obe Café’s. Raspberry Ginger Ale and The Copper Hog’s Purple Drink
For a day guaranteed to leave your culinary curiosity satisfied, here is a tasting guide for Bellingham inspired by this year’s competitors.
Breakfast at La Vie en Rose Bakery and Deli. on Holly St. After your first bite out of a freshly baked good at this quaint French bakery, you will have a hard time believing you are not in the heart of Paris.
Lunch at India Grill, located at 1215 Cornwall Ave. They offer a $7.95 lunch special buffet and extensive menu. Their Mango Lassi earned third place for Dreamiest Drink in 2010.
Dinner at The Table located at 100 N Commercial Ave. With a seasonal menu all ingredients are fresh and provide fantastic variety. Parents can choose from fanciful greens or decadent pasta dishes and kids will be happy with classic mac n cheese or spaghetti and meatballs. Thursday is Ravioli day!
