Day to Orcas

Left home with bikes at about 9 am on a sun lit Sunday morning. Parked and met my daughter and her beau at the Anacortes Ferry. Hopped on, all four or us, and enjoyed the scenery until our disembarkment at Orcas. Rode to the West Side, where we parked our bikes at the base of Turtleback Mountain and headed up. Beautiful trail and amazing scenery at the top -- which you can reach in about 20 minutes. Enjoyed the warmth, summer smells of wild washington, and the view then headed to Kayak in Massacre bay thanks to the loan of Kayaks of our friend Jenny. Cruised around Massacre bay, playing hide and seek with a seal, before heading back to our bikes. (One member braved the bay and with the temps near 80 it felt good!). Tooled in to Eaststound (Orcas's main town) via Crow Valley road (great views and lovely biking). Wonderful lunch and some art work and book browsing in Eastsound before heading back to the 5:40 ferry. Home to Bham by 8. Perfect day.
