Flavor of Fairhaven

Every year Fairhaven hosts the Flavor of Fairhaven where restaurants open their doors for samples and demonstrations. Having missed this year’s actual event I decided to create my own culinary extravaganza. I spent a day visiting restaurants where I believe the best flavors Fairhaven can be found:

Breakfast at the Colophone Café. The cow theme continues to be a source of amusement. If the morning is warm I suggest sitting outside at a table next to the Village Green.

My next stop was Pappa’s Sweets where you truly feel like a kid in a candy shop. Their freshly brewed coffee cannot be missed and if you mention this ad your first cup in on the house. Believe me, you cannot have just one. http://fairhaven.com/businesses/listing_detail/papas_sweets

Lunch was at OnRice where I can never deny their tempting $8.00 lunch special. This low price does not equate to a low quality meal, but rather a large and satisfying Thai experience.

For my mid day snack I stopped in at Katie’s Cupcakes, a mom and daughter run and operated cupcake shop. Being rather full I opted for their miniature treats. Red Velvet is by far my favorite.

Dinner was at Le Chat Noir aka The Black Cat. With my savory crepe and Parisian décor I almost believed I was in the middle of France. Le Chat Noir can be found up the winding stairs of Sycamore square. When walking up Harris St, look up for the black cat on the outside of the building.

To get a different flavor of the town (and to work up your appetite) call up local figure Dirty Day for a historic walking tour. He has been giving tours for years and knows his facts! http://fairhaven.com/businesses/listing_detail/dirty_dan_tours
